Advertising on afrol.com

It is easy and reasonable to run an ad campaign on the afrol website.

You can choose between different banners, ranging from small rectangles (150 px) to XXL top banners (up to 1,000 px). And you can choose between campaigns running on all pages on afrol.com; or limit it to pages with content from a specific country (for example Kenya) or a specific thematic (for example economy or travel); and you can even limit your campaign to reach readers located only in a specific country (for example only US or South African readers). Finally, there is the premium campaign type of "Sponsored features".

The first thing you should do, is to decide whether you want to run a general campaign (on all afrol.com) or whether you want to limit the campaign regarding our page content or readers' location. Read more on the different types of campaigns on the following links:

The pricing system is by CPM

In general, advertising on the afrol website is run on a CPM basis. CPM means "Cost per mille" and refers to the price for 1,000 impressions, or the advert cost per thousand views. We operate with a CPM rate that is below the market average.

Some advertisers ask for campaigns on a CPC (cost per click) or CPA (cost per action) basis. In general, we do not allow CPC or CPA campaigns unless they include a monthly ground price.

Many advertisers ask for statistics regarding traffic on afrol.com, having in mind a time-limited campaign. You can order a time-limited campaign, but we cannot guarantee traffic, which varies largely from month to month (read why here). Therefore, the CPM pricing system is also the best for the advertiser, guaranteeing you get what you pay for.

Technology

The technology used to serve your ads on the afrol web is an OpenX web server. This widely used technology will also assure correct statistics about impressions/views of your ad.

Regarding the formats of your ad, allowed by the OpenX server, there is great flexibility. You can choose between the following normal formats: gif (also animated), jpg, png, swf and html.
