afrol News partner media: Daily News

Whenever Zimbabwean authorities let the Daily News do its work, the newspaper is Zimbabwe's leading independent daily media. Based in Harare, the Daily News has gained wide international recognition for its investigative and courageous journalism and it has become the most outstanding symbol of the fight for freedom for many oppressed Zimbabweans. Due to its independent profile, however, the English language daily is often harassed and hindered from being published.

The Daily News is most famous for its independent coverage of Zimbabwean political and economic affairs, lashing out at both authorities and the opposition, when necessary. The troubled newspaper however also covers regional and international affairs and has its "softer" columns. It is a favourite among advertisers, in particular from abroad.

afrol News since 2000 has formally cooperated with Daily News through the MisaNet news exchange network of independent African media. Under current conditions, this enables Daily News to freely reproduce afrol News copy and it enables afrol News to reproduce Daily News copy, when this is available. There is an intention of deepening and commercialising this cooperation.
