afrol News, Kinshasa, 18 May - Heavy rains between 17 and 18 May caused a flood that killed several people in Congo Kinshasa (DRC). Local sources say four dead bodies have so far been found and taken from River Makelele. River Makelele, which separates Bandalungwa and Kintambo municipalities, was flooded as a consequence of the heavy rains. The seasonal rains are soon to end. No security measures are implemented at River Makelele, giving local concerns that the deadly flooding might repeat itself in next year's rainy season. A rescue team from the Red Cross and urban authorities was present at the riverbank this morning to aid the affected population. Also, many local residents had gathered to show their compassion with the victims. So far, the total numbers of victims is not available. Local authorities expect the death toll to rise as the search for victims goes on.
