- Machira Gichohi, the Kenya Dairy Board Managing Director said effective next year, the East African county aims to produce more than four billion litres of milk annually.
This would be a 20% increase over the 2002 production figure, which stood at 400 million litres.
"Last year, we produced 362 million litres," Gichoho told an audience at the launch of fresha classic milk by Githunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperatives.
He said the new product, which is expected to boost sales, was launched at a time when his firm aims to produce and market over 300,000 litres per day by the year 2010.
Gichohi said his firm has significantly increased milk export and the last month's figure stood at 20 milllion litres.
Kenya is the greatest exporter of milk products to Asia and Africa, and Gichoho is upbeat of reaching the target because dairy factories are increasing their output.
"Our farmers should adopt new technologies to market their products and enhance animal husbandry," he said.
