afrol News, 14 November - A cadeia RIU iniciará no começo de 2007 a construção do seu primeiro empreendimento na ilha cabo-verdiana da Boavista, muito próxima da ilha vizinha do Sal, onde a RIU Hotels já tem dois resorts em funcionamento com uma excelente aceitação no mercado português. A sua abertura está prevista para meados de 2008.

O novo resort da RIU, junto a um paradisíaco "mar" de dunas, vai chamar-se Riu Karamboa. O hotel terá 750 quartos e a categoria 5 estrelas.

Boavista é uma ilha de grande beleza e de praias esplêndidas, virgens, que se encontram entre as mais belas de África. A ilha tem uma extensão de 620 quilómetros quadrados e apenas 4.000 habitantes, que se dedicam à pesca e à agricultura.

O primeiro resort da RIU em Cabo Verde - arquipélago situado frente a Africa ocidental, a 600 quilómetros da costa do Senegal - foi o ClubHotel Riu Funaná, que foi inaugurado em Outubro de 2005 na ilha do Sal. Um ano mais tarde a RIU inaugurou um novo ClubHotel num terreno contíguo, o Riu Garopa.

Perante este êxito de ambos os resorts, a RIU decidiu investir na Boavista com a construção de um novo resort de grande nível que terá o mercado português entre os seus principais destinatários.

No território português RIU dispõe de 3 hotéis no Algarve e um hotel Palace na ilha da Madeira, recentemente galardoado com o prémio TUI-Holly por ser considerado um dos melhores hotéis de férias do mundo.
