According to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Maseru, the team, led by Professor Xia Ning, consists of seven members, five of whom are doctors specialised in dental surgery, orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, otolaryngology and gynaecology. The team, working at the Queen Elizabeth II, is the third Chinese medical group to be attached in Lesotho from June 2 as part of developing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. - We are sure that as the previous two teams, the third Chinese medical team will do a goo job and make contribution to strengthen the medical cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries, the Embassy said. The second team of 15 members who had arrived in Lesotho to begin work at the same hospital in June 1999, has completed its mission and will leave the country soon. - With the support and help from officials of Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, hospital authority and staff, the team has successfully completed its two-year service and is leaving for China very soon, it added. The governments of the two countries signed a protocol on Sending Chinese Medical Team to Lesotho on 5 November 1996. Since then, the Chinese government has dispatched three batches of medical temas. The cooperation is funded by the Chinese government as a grant to Lesotho.
